Which resource should you start with?

If you are not sure where to begin, this is the shortest possible route to knowing whether your marketing has a problem and where it is.

  1. Run the SEO audit checklist against your own site. It takes about ninety minutes and will find the obvious problems.
  2. Check what AI assistants currently say when asked about your category. Ask four or five of them the questions your customers ask. Note who gets cited. This takes ten minutes and is genuinely uncomfortable if nobody mentions you.
  3. Compare your numbers against indicative benchmarks for your business model — carefully, and remembering that a benchmark is context rather than a target.
  4. Work out your break-even acquisition cost. Most businesses discover they do not know this number, which makes every budget discussion abstract.
  5. Only then decide whether you need help, and with what.
